Kit is a partner in the Saskatoon office and maintains a litigation practice with particular emphasis on Labour and Employment Law.
Kit represents a range of both provincially- and federally-regulated employers in areas such as:
- workplace policy development;
- labour relations matters including advising on certification and de-certification processes, and collective bargaining;
- grievance arbitrations pursuant to a collective agreement;
- proceedings at the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board;
- individual terminations and/or group workforce reductions under The Saskatchewan Employment Act and the Canada Labour Code;
- human rights issues, including advising through the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission and Canadian Human Rights Commission’s investigation and prosecution processes;
- drafting employment agreements;
- representing the employer during OHS investigations and hearings as well as responding to workplace harassment issues; and other related issues.
Kit also maintains a civil litigation practice primarily in the area of insurance defence.
Kit has appeared as primary counsel at all levels of court in Saskatchewan as well as the Federal Court of Canada, the Court of Queen’s Bench of Manitoba, the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board, arbitrations held under The Canada Labour Code, and in labour arbitration hearings pursuant to a collective agreement.
Kit has been designated a “Lawyer to Watch” for Labour Law and is listed in the 2023 Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory.
Kit was invited to join the partnership in 2021.
