Nikki is a partner in the McKercher LLP Saskatoon office where she assists numerous clients with finance, commercial land transactions and general business matters.
Nikki has assisted numerous clients with finance, commercial (non-First Nations and First Nations) land transactions and general business matters. This work includes: commercial lending and financing arrangements, including private placements and public offerings; purchase, sale, leasing and development of real property including that which involves First Nations’ Reserve lands; corporate and non-corporate-entity documentation and advice; trust governance and advice (First Nations, inter vivos and testamentary); commercial contracts involved in ongoing business relationships or particular transactions; and continuous disclosure requirements under securities laws. Nikki is involved on many levels with specific claims financings and their associated administrative trusts and “legacy” trusts, including advising trustees, lenders and First Nations. Nikki also works with clients in estate planning and estate administration at all levels, including high net worth, Indigenous (on-Reserve), 2SLGBTQI+, Sharia Law-compliant, and Code of Canon Law-compliant matters.
In 2003, Nikki joined McKercher LLP as an articling student under the guidance of Mr. Justice Daniel B. Konkin and in 2011 she joined the partnership.
Nikki’s organizational skill and drive make her a valuable asset to local, province-wide and national planning committees, boards and teams. She is the past-Chair of the Saskatchewan Branch of the Canadian Bar Association’s Securities Law North Section and a past member of the Canadian Bar Business Law Section executive. She is also past-President of the Estate Planning Council of Saskatoon. Through her CBA involvement, Nikki has been involved in the consultation process relating to the development of a common securities regulator.
Representative Experience
- Counsel (across Canada) to Royal Bank of Canada’s Indigenous Markets Team respecting Indigenous lending relating to commercial endeavours, as well as specific claims and trust lending
- Special Counsel (Securities) to Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan respecting Information Services Corporation’s initial public offering of Class A Limited Voting Shares for aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $169 million.
- Saskatchewan counsel respecting the sale of Athabasca Potash Inc. for $341 million to BHP Billiton by way of a plan of arrangement.
- Counsel for the FNR Energy group of companies respecting the establishment of, and initial public offerings by, several FNR Energy limited partnerships.

Nikki was recently selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers™ in Canada 2026 in the fields of Banking and Finance Law, Biotechnology and Life Sciences Practice, and Trusts and Estates for Saskatoon. She was also acknowledged by Best Lawyers® as ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for Trusts and Estates in Saskatoon for 2026. She has been listed in Best Lawyers® since 2023.
Nikki has been “Repeatedly Recommended” in the area of Corporate Commercial Law and is listed in the 2025 Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory.
Nikki has recently been ranked in the 2026 edition of Chambers Canada Legal Guide. She is ranked Band 3 for Corporate/Commercial in Saskatchewan. In the review, Nikki ‘has extensive experience advising clients on financing and commercial real estate transactions involving both First Nation and non-First Nation lands.
