Kaylea is a partner in the Saskatoon office where she defends both personal injury and professional liability actions, provides policy coverage opinions and advances subrogated claims. 

Kaylea practices largely in civil litigation. A member of the Firm’s Insurance Law Practice Group, she defends both personal injury and professional liability actions, provides policy coverage opinions and advances subrogated claims. She has also worked with a major natural resources company in achieving successful resolution with its insurers relating to a catastrophic property loss insurance claim. Kaylea started at McKercher as an associate in 2002 and became a partner in 2009. 

Kaylea was honoured with a Queen’s Counsel appointment in 2021. 

Kaylea has developed considerable expertise in privacy and access to information law. She has worked with local authorities, government institutions, health service providers, non-profit entities, financial institutions, and private sector businesses. 

For years Kaylea maintained a general insurance broker’s license and membership in the Insurance Brokers’ Association of Saskatchewan (IBAS). She has prepared various papers and presentations for the CBA; Risk Management Counsel of Canada; Saskatchewan Legal Education Society (SKLESI); the Saskatoon Estate Planning Council; Saskatchewan Association of Insurance Adjusters, IBAS and the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers’ Association.
