McKercher LLP Lawyers Successful in Summary Conviction Appeal at Supreme Court of Canada

A decision was released Thursday, November 8th on an application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court from R v Pierone, 2018 SKCA 30 (CanLII), where McKercher LLP lawyers Kelsey O’Brien and Dusty T. Ernewein successfully appealed a summary conviction that resulted from the Court of Queen’s Bench substituting a conviction for Mr. Pierone’s acquittal after trial on a charge of unlawfully hunting under The Wildlife Act.  The Supreme Court of Canada dismissed the Crown’s application for leave to appeal.  Dusty T. Ernewein and David Stack, Q.C. represented Mr. Pierone in the Supreme Court of Canada leave process.
