What is a synchronization licence and how can I obtain one?

A synchronization licence is a licence to integrate a particular piece of music with a visual component (usually, a video). In other words, if you would like to use music in a film that you are producing, you will need a synchronization licence for each piece of music featured in the film.

In Canada, there is no all-encompassing collective organization that administers synchronization rights. In order to obtain a synchronization licence, you must contact the publisher of the music directly.
