McKercher LLP wins National Pro Bono Award

Regina, Saskatchewan – September 25, 2014 – McKercher LLP has been awarded the Canadian National Pro Bono Law Firm Award at the 5th National Pro Bono Conference, Justice4All, a national conference being held in Regina, Saskatchewan from September 24-26th.  The award was presented to McKercher LLP at the conference awards banquet on Thursday evening at the Radisson Plaza Hotel Saskatchewan.

According to the website, the Canadian National Pro Bono Law Firm Award recognizes a Canadian law firm that has made an outstanding contribution to the provision of pro bono legal services. The awards committee considers law firms that have made significant strides toward the establishment of policies and programs that encourage lawyers to volunteer to represent low-income individuals. The award typically is awarded to firms that have demonstrated dedication to the development and delivery of legal services to low income recipients through a pro bono program or have contributed significant work toward developing innovative approaches to delivering volunteer legal services.

Pro bono work is an important aspect of the history of professionalism in the practice of law and represents an admirable tradition within the legal profession.
