McKercher LLP lawyer, Kelsey O’Brien participates in successful moot trial via the Dare to Dream program

McKercher LLP lawyer, Kelsey O’Brien participated in Dare to Dream program, an initiative of Canadian Lawyers Abroad that engages the Canadian legal and business community in initiatives that support and empower Aboriginal students and their families, help them achieve their dreams, and contribute to their communities. This program is also designed to increase the number of opportunities for Aboriginal law students, promote diversity in the legal and business community and foster a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture and issues.

In Saskatoon, the event allowed young students to participate in a mock trial presided over by the Honourable Judge G. M. Morin of the Saskatchewan Provincial Court.

The program recently expanded to Saskatchewan, and Kelsey has been hands on volunteering with a group of 11-14 year olds at St. Frances School, preparing them for the mock trial held Friday, January 23rd at the College of Law on the University of Saskatchewan campus.

One of our traditions is our recognition of the contribution members of our profession are able, often uniquely, to make on behalf of disadvantaged members of our society and the organizations that serve them.

We are proud of Kelsey who has taken this time to make a difference in the future of the legal system and our community in general.
