Of Counsel

Robert is one of the founding partners of the law firm. He is no longer practising legal services except through pro bono organizations.

Robert McKercher did his Post Graduate work under then Professor Bora Laskin, University of Toronto, and received his Master of Laws from Harvard Law School in 1953.

 

He became a Senior Partner with the Firm in 1961, and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1966.

 

Some of Mr. McKercher’s career highlights include acting as counsel to the Federal Government’s Barber Commission on Farm Machinery, and as counsel to the Provincial Government’s Estey Commission on the Regina Upgrader.  He was also a member of the first American/Canadian Legal Exchange Chaired by Chief Justices William Rehnquist of the United States Supreme Court and Brian Dickson of the Supreme Court of Canada, and a member of the 1990 “People to People” Lawyers and Judges delegation to Russia in support of a transition to constitutional democracy from Communist government.

 

He is a member and Former National President of the Canadian Bar Association. He is a member and Former President of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers.  Mr. McKercher is also a Fellow of the Foundation for Legal Research and a Director of the Estey Centre for Law and Economics in International Trade.

Robert is no longer practising legal services, except through pro bono organizations.  He continues to provide mentorship to the firm.
