JOEL A. HESJE, Q.C.
Joel Hesje’s practice focuses on Commercial Litigation and Insolvency. He was Counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada in a successful challenge to the scope of Revenue Canada’s deemed trust powers. First Vancouver Finance v. Canada (Minister of National Revenue M.N.R.) [2002] 2 S.C.R. 720
Joel was named Commission Counsel to the Commission of Inquiry Into Matters Relating to the Death of Neil Stonechild, held in 2003/04.
Joel lectures to various professional organizations and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association. He is also the current President of Saskatchewan Legal Education Society Incorporated (SKLESI).
Joel earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Political Studies and Economics) from the University of Saskatchewan, both in 1983. Joel has been a partner with the Firm’s Saskatoon office since 1990.
