We provide opportunities for ongoing professional development through attendance at regional, national and international seminars. Students

As a full service law firm with offices in Saskatchewan’s two major cities, McKercher LLP offers articling students exposure to a wide range of practice areas. The qualities we look for in our articling students mirror those we look for in our associates—intellect, creativity, commitment. Training lawyers of the highest quality has always been important to us—and after more than 90 years, we have experience in training some of the best. We invest a great deal of time in our students during the articling year. In accordance with guidelines formulated by the University of Saskatchewan College of Law, we conduct initial interviews and compile a short list of students, followed by a more extensive second interview with selected candidates. This process helps us match articling students with our firm. Instead of a strict rotation process, we assign students to a principal. Your principal becomes your mentor. He or she ensures that you gain hands-on experience in all practice areas, that you have a chance to work with many different lawyers and for many different clients, that your workload is appropriate and that your overall articling year is a positive, rewarding experience. We pride ourselves on our collegial atmosphere. Students participate in a variety of social events, and we encourage student involvement in community events and professional associations. In short, we believe McKercher LLP offers some of the best experience you could hope for during your articling year.
